Like New (a poem by Jeremy Stevens)

Like New (or Love Poem #2)

It has a hundred-thousand miles,

but the air blows on cue.

It has good tires, brakes, and paint job.

This car is just like new.

The pages are folded over,

and the spine’s lost its glue.

But I never read one better;

the sticker says ‘like new.’

Two decades: high miles, not for sale.

Too much history binds these two.

Even after all of this time,

their love is still like new.
